Popular TV actor Pavitra Jayaram who played Thilottama in 'Trinayani' dies in road accident

TV actor Pavitra Jayaram, who rose to fame playing Thilottama in the immensely popular Telugu television show 'Trinayani', passed away in a road accident on Sunday in Telangana.

According to media reports, the popular actor was returning from Bengaluru to Hyderabad on Sunday when the accident took place at Mahabubnagar in Telangana. Pavitra Jayaram died on the spot.

"She died in a road accident last night at 1 am at Divitipally in Mahabubnagar district. She was travelling from Bengaluru to Hyderabad," news agency ANI quoted police as saying.

Police said the actor's car lost control and hit the divider. Later, her vehicle was hit by a bus.

While Pavitra Jayaram died on the spot, the actor's cousin and her driver who were with her in the car sustained serious injuries in the accident.

Her husband and Chandrakant took to social media to share the last photo of them together, with a moving message.

The demise of the actor has sent shock waves across the industry. Expressing shock over the tragic incident, actor Sameeip Acharyaa wrote in his Instagram story: "Woke up to the news that you are no more. It’s unbelievable. My first on-screen mother, you will always be the special one."

Pavitra Jayaram made her television debut with the Kannada series 'Jokali'. She made her Telugu TV debut with the show 'Ninne Pelladatha'. It was 'Tilottama' that made her a household name.
