Actor Kangana Ranaut, who is contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi constituency, has announced that she will quit Bollywood once she wins the seat.
Kangana, in a recent interview with Aaj Tak, admitted that she considers the film world to be "fake" and she will quit once she wins the elections.
"The film world is a lie, everything there is fake. They create a very different environment. It is a glossy world like a fake bubble which is to attract the audience. This is the reality," she said. Kangana was replying to the question of whether she will quit the film industry if she win the elections.
"I am a very passionate person. I never wanted to do a job because I had to. Even in films I start writing, and when I get bored of playing a role, I direct or produce, so I have a very fertile mind and I want to be passionately engaged," she added.
BJP candidate Kangana is up against Congress's Vikramaditya Singh, belonging to the 'royal' family and son of six-time CM Virbhadra Singh. Mandi constituency will go to polls on June 1.
During the campaigns, Kangana has attacked the Congress-led government over stalling the developmental projects and cheating the people of Mandi. She promised that her main agenda would be to restart all the stalled projects besides improving connectivity to remote tribal areas.
While taking a dig at Kangana, Vikramaditya had said that she was on a month-long political tourism and would pack her bags and return to Bollywood after June 4. He had promised the people of Mandi to make the place a smart city.
In the 2022 assembly polls, the BJP had won 12 assembly seats falling under Mandi parliamentary constituency.
