Kamal Haasan’s 'Indian 2': Release date, audio launch and more

Neelorpam- the second single from Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 released on Wednesday has hit one million views on YouTube. Penned by lyricist Thamarai and sung by Abby V and Shruthika Samudhrala - Neelorpam is a melodious romantic number featuring Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh. The lyrical video released by the makers showcases the romance and chemistry shared by Sidharth and Rakul Preet. 

The first single, Paaraa, released on May 22 is a delightful blend with lyrics penned by Pa Vijay and sung by Shurthika Samudhrala. The animated lyrical video shows the war against the British and a man fighting the English men, recalling the role played by Kamal in Indian as Senapathy.

The movie's audio launch will take place in Chennai on June 1. 

Helmed by director Shankar Shanmugam, Indian 2 is a sequel to the 1996 film Indian. Karl Haasan will reprise his role as Senapathy, the freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights corruption. 

Apart from Kamal Haasan, the film will feature Siddharth, Rahul Preet Singh, Kajal Agarwal, SJ Surya, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani among others. 

Cinematographer Ravi Varman, editor Sreekar Prasad and music director Anirudh Ravichander are also part of Indian 2, produced by Lyca productions. The 1996 Indian had Kamal, Manisha Koirala, Sukanya, Urmila Matondkar  play the lead roles. It remains to be seen, if Indian 2 will see the return of Senapathy and what roles Sidharth and Kajol play. 

While the work for Indian 2 began in 2017, it took a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then Kamal Haasan’s busy political schedule. After the huge box office victory of his Vikram 2, Kamal is back in his serious acting career playing tough roles. The audio launch of Indian 2 is scheduled to take place on June 1. The muh-awaited Kamal starrer will hit the screens on July 12. 

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan’s next Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam is also under production.
