Bollywood actor Noor Malabika Das, who starred along with Kajol in the Disney Plus Hotstar show 'The Trial', was found dead in her apartment on June 6.
The police suspect it to be a case of suicide.
According to police, neighbors of the actor noticed a foul smell from her apartment and alerted the police who forced their way into her flat.
The cops found the decomposed body of Noor Malabika Das hanging from the ceiling fan.
Noor Malabika Das has been part of a few films and web shows, including 'Charamsukh', 'Dekhi Andekhi', 'Siskiyaan', 'Walkaman', and 'Jaghanya Upaya'. She had played a supporting role in the Kajol-led 'The Trial'.
Before making her foray into films, Noor Malabika Das, who hailed from Assam, worked as an air hostess with Qatar Airways.
Meanwhile, All Indian Cine Workers Association urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to ensure a a thorough probe into her death.
"Actress Noor Malabika Das, who had acted in several Bollywood films, tragically took her own life on June 6, 2024, at the young age of 37 | She was found in her flat in Lokhandwala, Mumbai | This unfortunate incident underscores a serious issue within the Bollywood and broader Indian film industry, where reports of suicides among actors and actresses are alarmingly frequent | It is imperative for the government to investigate the underlying causes behind these recurring tragedies in the Indian film industry," the association said in a statement.
It is crucial that the Investigation also consider the possibility of foul play and explore the case from a potential murder angle, the forum added.
