Renukaswamy murder: How Darshan tried to obstruct investigation?

The Karnataka Police, on Thursday, told a Bengaluru court that popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa tried to obstruct the investigation into the Renukaswamy murder case, by misusing his fan base.

According to media reports, in its remand application, the police also said Darshan reached out to several people before and after the alleged crime to try to interfere with the probe. The claim by the police comes even as the state government and Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda reiterated that the police are not under any sort of pressure to favour the actor.

The police also claimed that the actor's friend Pavithra Gowda had instigated and conspired with other accused in the case to murder Renukaswamy.

The court had extended the police custody of actor Darshan by two days, till June 22.

Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor, had sent obscene messages to Gowda, which enraged Darshan, allegedly leading to his murder.

Darshan's wife Vijayalakshmi breaks her silence

Meanwhile, the actor's wife Vijayalakshmi Darshan spoke up for the first time after the star's arrest. Vijayalakshmi sought an injunction against the media from publishing or unauthenticated information about the murder case.

“At the outset, I express my heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased Sri. Renukaswamy. Alongside, The last few days have been full of anguish for Darshan, myself, my teenage son & all of Darshan’s friends, family & Fans,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

“With this order issued by the Honourable Court, I hope people will put to rest, some falsified information & untruths that were being spread across various media & social media platforms. I urge everyone to kindly publish only what is officially put out by the enforcement authorities," Vijayalakshmi wrote, and added that she has full faith in the legal system.
