Shatrughan Sinha's first reaction to daughter Sonakshi Sinha's marriage: 'My daughter looks most happy...'

Popular Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha got married to her long-time boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal at a private ceremony on Sunday.

While the inter-faith marriage has attracted much backlash online, the actor's father , actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha expressed delight over his daughter's marriage.

In what comes as his first reaction to his marriage, he said, “Yeh bhi koi poochne ki baat hai? (Is there a question), Every father waits for this moment when his daughter is given to her chosen groom. My daughter looks most happy with Zaheer. Unki jodi salamat rahe,” reported Times Now.

Shatrughan Sinha further said, “44 years ago, Shatrughan Sinha married a very successful, very beautiful, very talented girl of his choice, Poonam Sinha. Now it is Sonakshi’s turn to marry the boy of her choice.”

There have been reports that Shatrughan Sinha was unhappy about his daughter not informing the family about the wedding. However, the rumours were put to rest as Shatrughan Sinha was seen posing for photos with Zaheer Iqbal and his family a few days ago.

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal had shared the news of their wedding in a joint Instagram post.

"On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each other's eyes, we saw love in its purest form and dedicated to hold on to it.

"Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs... leading up to this moment... where with the blessings of both of our families and both of our gods... we are now man and wife. Here's to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever," Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal captioned their wedding pictures on Instagram.
