Even as the star-studded pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant are underway, Aaliyah, daughter of popular Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap, became a dissident voice as she called the entire festivities a "circus."
According to media reports, Aaliyah’s leaked comments on the Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding on Reddit read: “The Ambani Wedding is not a wedding, at this point, it’s become a circus. I am enjoying stalking everything though.”
She said although she was invited to some of the pre-wedding events, she refused to attend them. "...apparently they’re doing PR (don't ask me why). But I said no because I would like to believe I have a little more self-respect than to sell myself out for someone’s wedding,” Aaliyah wrote.
She further wrote that she finds rich people’s lives so fascinating. "...it’s like oh we have extra money, what should we do with it…”
While the reactions to her comments were mixed as some pointed out that she too rich, she responded on her broadcast channel by saying, “I made it on Insta celeb guys, what I said about Ambani wedding. People are saying I'm a nepo and privileged, Idk (I don't know) how that has anything to do with me not wanting to go as a PR invite for someone’s wedding when I don’t even know the people whose wedding it is."
Why will I go and make PR reels for that, she asked.
After months-long pre-wedding festivities, Anant and Radhika, daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant, will finally get married on July 12.
