YouTuber and Malayalam 'movie critic' Santhosh Varkey, popularly known as Aratt Annan, was summoned by Kerala Police following a complaint filed by South Indian actor Bala, accusing the former of making obscene remarks against actors under the guise of movie reviews.

Bala had recently filed a complaint with the Mollywood actors' association AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) and the Ernakulam Police, alleging that Aratt Annan used vulgar language to insult actors and their families on social media.

AMMA general secretary actor Siddique took the complaint seriously and initiated further action. Following this, Aratt Annan was summoned to the police station, where he signed a written statement in the presence of senior police officials, promising not to repeat such behavior.

The police warned him that legal action would be initiated against him if he were to make such remarks again.

Besides, AMMA has also decided to take strict action against YouTubers who personally insult film industry professionals under the guise of movie reviews and criticism.

Earlier, Aratt Annan's involvement in a controversy between YouTuber 'Chekuthan' and Bala had also garnered significant attention. Aratt Annan had then alleged that Bala forcefully detained him at the house.
