Robert Downey Jr. reveals 'Dr. Doom' during San Diego Comic-Con

Fans of Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Avengers are in a frenzy as Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr., known for his portrayal of the Avengers character ‘Iron Man’, announced his return to the franchise as a villain in their upcoming film. Robert Downey Jr. Revealed ‘Dr Doom’ during the San Diego Comic-Con.

Downey played Iron Man in nine films, but on Saturday, he appeared wearing Dr. Doom's mask and a green cloak. "I like playing complicated characters," said the actor after revealing his new mask at San Diego Comic-Con. Robert Downey Jr. will play the villain Victor Von Doom, or Doctor Doom, in the upcoming Avengers film ‘Avengers Doomsday’. It also marks the return of iconic directors duo Russo Brothers to Marvel and they will be directing the upcoming two Avengers films.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed the titles of upcoming two Avengers films - Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: Doomsday at the Comic-Con on Saturday and they will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. Interestingly, iron Man, the character portrayed by Downey, died in the 2019 Avengers film ‘Avengers: Endgame’. 

“New mask, same task,” said Downey sharing a moment with his new mask, similar to the one with his Iron Man’s mask, on social media on Saturday.
