‘Supposed to be a happy moment, but Wayanad...’ Mammootty appeals for support after winning Filmfare award

Malayalam superstar Mammootty appealed to the film fraternity to extend support to Wayanad landslide victims after winning the Filmfare award on Saturday.

The actor, who won his 15th Filmfare award for his performance in the film ‘Nanpakkal Nerathu Mayakkam’, appealed to the audience to extend support for the rehabilitation of those affected by the landslide.

“This is supposed to be a very happy movement for me, but I’m sad about the suffering of people in Wayanad... Those who lost their lives, belongings and beloved...,” the actor said receiving the award from Tamil superstar Vikram. Actor Siddharth was also present on the stage. Remembering the victims of the landslide, Mammootty said he wishes everyone would extend support to bring them back to life.

Mammootty thanked the director Lijo Jose Pellissery and the crew of the film for the award. The actor was also the producer of the film.

The actor has contributed Rs 20 lakh to Kerala Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for rehabilitation and his son and actor Dulquer Salmaan also made a contribution of Rs 15 lakh.
