The 8th edition of All About Music, India's only B2B music conference, has begun in Mumbai. The three-day event will be attended by delegates, artists, music industry professionals, and students, from several parts of India, as well as other countries. The theme for this year's conference is 'Synthesis'.

Various topics, including the rise of independent artists, the intersection of artificial intelligence and music, the role of technology in music production, the legalities surrounding the music industry, and the landscape of the Indian music industry, among others, will be discussed during the conference.

Sabbas Joseph, co-founder and director, Wizcraft International Entertainment, in his welcome note, explained the theme of the event, highlighting the importance of collaboration among “fragments” of the music industry, to make a “harmonious whole”.

In his keynote address, the chairman of the Indian Music Industry (IMI) and managing director of Saregama, Vikram Mehra, offered an overview of the Indian music industry. Observing that the Indian music industry has not realised its great monetary potential, he said it is important for artists to be reimbursed well.

He pointed out that there is a need for short-form content platforms to introduce advertising revenues, of which record labels and artists could get a share, and added that this is critical for the success of the Indian music industry. Further, Mehra spoke about the importance of music streaming platforms charging subscription fees, and how this may not affect customer acquisition and retention, contrary to popular belief.
