John Abraham criticises actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, who 'sell death'

'People talk about fitness, and the same people endorse paan-masala'

Bollywood actor John Abraham expressed his displeasure over fellow actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Akshay Kumar appearing in advertisements endorsing paan masala, accusing them of "selling death."

John Abraham, during the The Ranveer Show podcast, did not mince words as he asked the actors to practice what they preach.

"If I live my life with honesty, and if I practice what I preach, then I am a role model. But if I am presenting a fake version of myself in public and behaving like a different person behind their back, they will spot it," the actor said.

"People talk about fitness, and the same people endorse paan-masala. I love all my actor friends, and I am not disrespecting any of them. I want to make it clear that I am talking about myself. But I will not sell death, because it is a matter of principle.”

Do you know that the yearly turnover for the paan-masala industry is Rs 45,000 crore, the actor asked, adding, “Which means that even the government is supporting it, and that is why it isn’t illegal."

Actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Akshay Kumar have been facing much criticism over their decision to appear in advertisements promoting tobacco products.

I have not had anything to do with the brand ever since I publicly announced the discontinuation of the endorsement, Akshay Kumar had said in 2022 in the wake of criticism.
