Double iSmart, hailed as a spiritual sequel to iSmart Shankar, is all set to hit theatres on August 15.
Starring Ram Pothineni, Sanjay Dutt, Kavya Thapar. and Bani J in the lead, Double iSmart is a science fiction action movie that promises plenty of action and violence.
Ahead of the release, the director of Double iSmart, Puri Jagannadh, explained why Ram Pothineni was best suited for the lead role in the movie.
When I think of Double iSmart, the one name that comes to mind is Ram Pothineni, the director noted.
According to Desimartini, Puri Jagannadh said Ram Pothineni brings unparalleled energy and added that people can see his energy when he walks onto the set.
Puri Jagannadh said the energy of Ram Pothineni not only excites him but also energises him.
“No one other than Ram can portray the role of Double iSmart,” the director has been quoted as saying.
He said the actor, with his body language, hair style, Telangana slang, and attitude brought a certain edge to his character in the movie.
Meanwhile, Ram Pothineni said although the film received an 'A' certificate from the censor board because of the violence and strong language, the family audience can still enjoy it as his character in Double iSmart has a backstory.
Double iSmart also marks the Tollywood debut of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. He is playing the antagonist in the movie.
iSmart Shankar, which was released in 2019, had Ram Pothineni playing the titular character of an assassin who gets embroiled in a police probe when the memories of an officer, who was killed, are transferred into his brain.
