THEATRE RELEASES

Khel Khel Mein

August 15

Akshay Kumar starrer Khel Khel Mein features a stellar cast of Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk, Pragya Jaiswal, Aditya Seal and Vanni Kapoor. The movie is penned and directed by Mudassar Aziz. The plot revolves around a group of friends who gather for dinner and spill secrets about each other.

Nunakkuzhi

August 15

Malayalam movie helmed by Jeethu Joseph and penned by K.R. Krishna Kumar features director and actor Basil Joseph, Grace Antony and Aju Varghese in pivotal roles. The fun-filled comedy thriller revolves around a wealthy man who gets entangled in a web of lies. Other prominent roles are played by Siddique, Manoj K. Jayan, Nikhila Vimal, and Baiju Santhosh among others. Nunakuzhi is the third film in which Jeethu and Krishna Kumar have worked together.

Vedaa

August 15

Directed by Nikhil Advani with John Abraham in the lead, the movie marks the reunion of them after the success of Batla House. Sharvari Wagh essays the titular role of a young woman who fights back against the draconian system with the help of her saviour. Abhishek Banerjee and Tamannaah Bhatia arrive in pivotal roles in the movie.

Bhairathi Ranagal

Shivaraj Kumar's Bhairathi Ranagal is a prequel to the 2017 movie Mufti. Shivaraj Kumar's role as Bhairathi Ranagal was a big hit in Mufti prompting director Narthan to create a another movie around the character. The movie is produced by Geetha Shivaraj Kumar under the banner of Geetha Pictures. Rahul Bose, Rukmini Vasanth, Madhu Guruswamy and Chaya Singh play supporting roles in the movie.

Thangalaan

August 15

Inspired by true events, the movie revolves around a group of tribal gold miners in Karnataka's Kolar district and how they face the wrath of a sorceress when assisting a British general in tracing gold. Chiyan Vikram essays the role of the tribal leader. Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohan and Daniel Caltagirone play pivotal roles in the movie. Thangalaan directed by Pa. Ranjith is set to release in multiple languages.

Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank

August 15

The second instalment of the Stree franchise is expected to hit the marquee this week. The original movie was a box office hit. This time Vicky and his friends team up to defeat a headless entity who mysteriously abducts women in the town of Chanderi. Stree 2 features Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurrana.

OTT RELEASES

Emily in Paris, Season 4 (Part 1)

Streaming platform: Netflix

Emily in Paris returns for its fourth season. Part one of the season looks into the life of Emily Cooper ( Lily Collins) and how she tries to navigate her personal and professional life. Season 3 ends when Emily finds herself at a difficult crossroads. The season promises to explore themes of friendship, love, romance, aspiration, ambition, fashion and cultural dramas.

Season 4 part 2 is set to release on September 12.

Jackpot

Streaming platform: Prime Video

Directed by Paul Feig, Jackpot revolves around a newly set up Grand Lottery in California, where you must kill another person before sundown to win the jackpot. The film stars Emily Blunt, John Cena and Ryan Reynolds. The action-comedy film is a wild ride filled with laughter, suspense and twists.

Manorathangal

Streaming platform: ZEE5

Based on the short stories of renowned Malayalam writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair, Manorathangal is an anthology film directed by eight filmmakers and features nine superstars. Mahesh Narayanan, Priyadarshan, and Shayamprasad are among the directors of the anthology series. Two of the works in the series, Shilalikhatam and Olavum Theeravum, which will have Mohanlal in the lead, will be directed by Priyadarshan. Ranjith will direct a film titled Kadugannava Oru Yathra. Manorathangal will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
