Prabhas made Telugu film industry famous globally, says Telangana CM Revanth Reddy

CM Reddy said Prabhas played a major role in the success of South Indian cinema

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy credited popular actor Prabhas, known for pan-India movies like the Baahubali franchise, Salaar, and Kalki 2898 AD, with taking the Telugu film industry to the global stage.

Speaking at an event on Sunday, the chief minister said Prabhas is helping the Telugu film industry to compete with Hollywood. He hailed the impressive line of work by the actor and noted that the Baahubali star has gained immense popularity in the country.

The chief minister said it is not possible to imagine anyone else playing the role that Prabhas played in the Baahubali series and even compared the actor to yesteryear actor and uncle of Prabhas, Krishnam Raju.

CM Reddy said Prabhas played a major role in the success of South Indian cinema.

Prabhas's last release was the science fiction action drama Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin and also starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone collected over Rs 1,000 crore at the box office. The movie is the 4th highest-grossing film of all time in India.

The actor now has a series of films lined up, including Kannappa, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the romantic comedy horror flick The Raja Saab which is being helmed by Maruthi, and another film directed by Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
