Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on their second wedding anniversary months after rumours about their breakup, said a report.
The divorce papers were filed in Los Angeles on August 20, the same date the couple got married in Georgia, according to TMZ. The date of separation was mentioned as April 26, 2024. However, reports claimed that she was seen donning a wedding ring recently.
Citing sources, TMZ said the couple didn't have a pre-nup agreement, with JLo opting to waive her right to spousal support while also asking the court to deny support for Affleck as well.
The couple was last spotted together in May. JLo attended the 2024 Met Gala solo. Affleck give a miss to her 55th birthday celebrations in July. They also chose not to be together for their Las Vegas wedding anniversary last month.
JLo and Affleck first got engaged in 2002 and broke up in 2004. Both of them married other people and had kids with them before they got back together in 2021. Following this they tied knot at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in July 2022. They had a second wedding at Affleck's Georgia home on August 20, 2022.
This was Jennifer's fourth marriage and Ben's second. Affleck has three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12. Lopez has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Fans have been speculating that Affleck was 'miserable and unhappy' in the relationship after rumours about his dislike for music gala events, which Lopez loved. He had stated that he was learning to “compromise” with singer's camera-friendly lifestyle.
Later, reports claimed that Affleck and Lopez were staying in two separate houses, following which she was even seen house hunting without him.
Ahead of filing for divorce, Lopez even liked an Instagram post detailing the qualities of an 'unhealthy' relationship.
