Days after actor Arshad Warsi said that Prabhas was made to look like a “joker” in Kalki 2898 AD, the film's director Nag Ashwin said that he should have “chosen his words better”.

On UNFILTERED by Samdish podcast, Warsi had said, “Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan) was unbelievable. Prabhas, I’m really sad. Why was he... he was like a joker. Why? You know, I want to see a 'Mad Max'. I want to see a Mel Gibson over there. What have you made of him? Why do you do this?”

Warsi's remark triggered strong reactions from the fans and celebrities such as Nani, Vishnu Manchu, Sudheer Babu and director Ajay Bhupathi.

Warsi, who has been getting a lot of flak on social media, turned off the comments on his latest Instagram post—a picture of his family on Independence Day.

Nag Ashwin responded to Warsi's remarks, while replying to a fan’s post on X.

Neither Prabhas nor Warsi have commented on the 'joker' remark or the subsequent backlash.

Despite mixed reviews, Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD has crossed the Rs 1,000 crore milestone in box office collections worldwide. Also starring Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone, the mythological and sci-fi action drama released on June 27 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English. It is streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
