A junior artist in the Malayalam film industry has accused actor Baburaj of sexual assault, alleging that he invited her to his Aluva home and took advantage of her.

However, the actor has rejected the allegations, saying he knew that he would be targeted next after similar allegations were raised against prominent Malayalam film artists. This comes after the release of Hema Committee Report, which revealed alleged abuse of women in the state film industry.

The woman claimed that the actor told her a director and filmmaker were at his house and she would be cast in a feature film. However, when she went there, Baburaj allegedly entered the room where she was resting and sexually assaulted her.

She alleged that other women were assaulted by the actor but are keeping silent because of fear.

Earlier, sexual harassment allegations were raised agaist director Ranjith by Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra when she auditioned for Paleri Manikyam movie.

Following this, actress Revathy Sampath alleged that actor Siddique sexually assaulted her and that she has proof against him. Revathy said she currently she has no plans to file a formal complaint against Siddique and will review her decision only if the government assures that she will get justice.

She also alleged that actor Riyaz Khan made sexual advances over a phone call late at night. She said a photographer has gave her phone number to Riyaz without her permission and the actor allegedly asked her if she was interested in a sexual relationship.

On Sunday, a 2018 post by casting director Tess Joseph resurfaced, wherein she had accused actor and CPI(M) MLA Mukesh of constantly harassing her when she was 20 years old.

On Monday, actress Minu Muneer alleged that actors in the industry had demanded compromises in order to gain membership in the actors' organisation, AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists). She alleged that actors Jayasurya, Mukesh, Idavela Babu and Maniyanpilla Raju misbehaved with her. The comes in the backdrop of Hema Committee Report, which revealed alleged sexual abuses and harassments faced by women in the Malayalam film industry.
