Malayalam actress raises shocking allegations against Jayasurya, Edavela Babu, Mukesh and Maniyanpilla Raju

The actress said she opened up now because the state government urged victims to come forward

Malayalam actress Minu Muneer has alleged that an actor in the industry has demanded compromises in order to gain membership in the actors' organisation, AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists), according to reports from local media. The comes in the backdrop of Hema Committee Report, which revealed alleged sexual abuses and harassments faced by women in the Malayalam film industry.

The actress has also alleged that actors Jayasurya, Idavela Babu, Mukesh and Maniyanpilla Raju misbehaved with her, according to Manorama Online. She said she opened up now because the state government urged victims to come forward.

Recalling her ordeal in 2008, Minu claimed she first experienced such misbehaviour from Jayasurya during a film shooting in the Secretariat, alleging that the actor hugged and kissed her from behind and even invited her to his flat. She told media that she was afraid to speak up due to fear.

She said by 2013, she acted in six movies and to get a membership in AMMA an actor only needs to be cast in three films. When she called up actor Idavela Babu, Minu alleged that he invited her to his flat to fill a form. While filling the form, he allegedly kissed her on the neck, following which she left the building immediately, the actress said.

She alleged that later, actor Mukesh spoke to her inappropriately over phone and in person, and even invited her to his villa.

Minu claimed that actor Maniyanpilla Raju misbehaved with her and spoke to her inappropritately while travelling in a vehicle.

She went on to add that someone from the actors' association called her up and told her that she would not be given a membership. Following this, left for Chennai as she said was tired of such experiences.
