The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) on Wednesday demanded that the sexual abuse perpetrators mentioned in the Hema Committee Report be brought to light. The issue was raised in a statement ahead of FEFKA's executive committee meeting scheduled from September 2 to 4.

However, director Aashiq Abu, who is also a member of the FEFKA, slammed the federation's general secretary B. Unnikrishnan over his alleged hypocrisy, claiming the latter has a feudal control over the film body, reported Onmanorama.

Alleging that the statement issued by FEFKA was without consulting other members, Aashiq said, "I don't have issues with FEFKA, but I disagree with the functioning of the association under the leadership of B. Unnikrishnan." He also urged the government to remove Unnikrishnan from the policy panel.

Earlier, terming the Hema Committee report an important document on the Malayalam film industry, the federation said in a statement, "We are aware of the criticism against the silence we maintained in the issue. We do not want to issue empty, fancy statements but recommend strong action and policies that will bring about a huge change within the industry."

The federation said it will not tolerate anyone who is found guilty of the crimes they have been accused of and pledged to assist the victims legally. It added that a core committee of women members will be formed in this regard, besides offering services of a clinical psychologist.

FEFKA said it will release an analysis on the findings of the Hema Committee, adding that they will consult with women members prior to publishing the report.
