Divya Prabha, the Malayalam actor who excelled as one of the two leads in "All We Imagine as Light," which won the prestigious Grand Prix at Cannes, mentioned that she hasn't noticed an increase in opportunities even after the Cannes triumph.

Directed by Payal Kapadia, ‘All We Imagine as Light’ was the first Indian film since 1994 to compete in the main competition at Cannes and win the Grand Prix. In the film, Prabha portrayed Anu, a Malayali nurse living in Mumbai. Notably, when the Cannes was happening, a debate about the ‘invisible women’ was gaining momentum in Prabha's home industry, Mollywood, where film enthusiasts, filmmakers, and netizens were discussing the lack of representation of women in recent blockbuster Malayalam films.

Speaking at the Manorama News Conclave in Thiruvananthapuram, Prabha expressed that actors like her have to choose roles from the limited options available to them.

"I do not know whether the industry sees me as an actor who only does indie films. There has been hardly any increase in opportunities from commercial cinema," Prabha said. Notably, she was nominated for Best Actress at the 2022 Locarno Film Festival in the international competition section for the movie ‘Ariyippu’, directed by Mahesh Narayanan.
