#MeToo in Mollywood: Another complaint against Jayasurya; victim of Ranjith says she is under severe stress

The man from Kozhikode who raised allegations of sexual misconduct against Ranjith is set to record his statement today

More women seem to be mustering the courage to speak up against the powerful actors and other celebrities in the Malayalam movie industry, as another actress filed a complaint against actor Jayasurya, accusing him of sexual misconduct.

In her complaint, the woman claimed that Jayasurya misbehaved with her at a shooting location in Thodupuzha of Idukki district in Kerala. The complaint was lodged by an actress from Thiruvananthapuram, and it has been transferred to the Thodupuzha police.

The first case against the actor was registered based on the complaint of an actress from Kochi, who alleged that he misbehaved with her near the restroom during a film shoot at the state secretariat. The case was registered under IPC sections 354, 354A, and 509.

Under severe stress, going on a solo trip, says Sreelekha Mitra

Meanwhile, Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra who filed a complaint against director Ranjith said she is under severe mental stress and will be going on a solo trip. In an Instagram post, she announced that she would deactivate her Facebook account until the controversies ended.

She requested privacy during her solo trip and asked not to be contacted regarding the controversies in the film industry.

Meanwhile, the youth from Kozhikode district of Kerala who had previously raised allegations against Ranjith is set to record his statement on Friday in a complaint he submitted to the DGP. The youth claims he was pressured to change his statement. He alleged that Ranjith molested him in Bengaluru in 2012 after he had sought a role in a film.

Following the allegations by Sreelekha Mitra, Ranjith resigned from his post as chairman of the state-run Kerala Chalachitra Academy.
