Amid controversies, the release of Kangana Ranaut's new film 'Emergency' has been further postponed. The film will not be released on September 6 as initially planned as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked for more cuts in the film.

The trailer launch of the film has created a furore in Punjab over the portrayal of the Sikh community in it.  With the ongoing protests, the Board had assured that it would take into account the sentiments of every community before giving the green signal.

A legal notice was sent to the Board by Shiromani Akali Dal seeking to stop the release of the film. It said that the release of the film may "incite communal tensions".

It also pointed out that the portrayal of the Sikh community in the movie is "unjust and negative".

"It is apparent that Ranaut has chosen the subject of the Emergency not to make a genuine political or historic statement against Congress, but rather to target the Sikh community," read the notice.

Meanwhile, Ranaut had said, "There is pressure on us to not show the assassination of Mrs Gandhi, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and the Punjab riots. I don't know what we will show then…This is an unbelievable time for me and I am very sorry for this state of things in this country."

Also, the Madhya Pradesh High Court is slated to hear a Sikh body's plea on Monday seeking directions to stop the release of the movie.

The Jabalpur Sikh Sangat has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the high court against the film.
