Indo-Canadian singer A P Dhillon has assured his fans that he and his loved ones were safe after reports emerged that shots were fired at his Canada home. Dhillon took to Instagram to thank his fans.

Dhillon, who shared screen space with Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt in his new track ‘Old Money’, posted on Instagram stories: "I am safe. My people are safe. Thank you to everyone who reached out. Your support means everything."

Shots were fired at the singer's house on Victoria Island, British Columbia on Sunday. As per reports, jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and gangster Rohit Godara claimed responsibility for the shooting. Godara's purported social media post reads that the firing was a response to Dhillon's video featuring Salman Khan. He also shared a video of the firing and warned the singer to "stay within his limits or he would meet a dog's death."

Dhillon's track which pays tribute to classic 90s Bollywood action films had gained attention due to the presence of Salman and Sanjay Dutt. This also marked Dhillon’s first release under his new partnership with Republic Records and Universal Music Canada.

The security agencies are verifying the social media messages and analysing the video that reportedly shows the shooting incident.

This isn't an isolated incident. Last year, the same gang had claimed responsibility for firing at singer Gippy Grewal’s home in Vancouver. However, it was the firing at actor Salman Khan's home in Mumbai that dominated the headlines. Khan had then stated to the police that the gang intended to kill him and his family. Salman Khan's brother and actor-producer Arbaaz Khan too reiterated that the Bishnoi gang aimed to kill them.

In his statement, Arbaaz recounted the prior threats received by the family and the trespassing at their Panvel farmhouse. "Hence, Salman Khan would always tell our family members to be alert about their safety," Arbaaz said. He was out of town when the April 14 firing incident took place," Arbaaz said.
