Kareena Kapoor Khan is all set for the release of her new crime-thriller film, The Buckingham Murders, which was premiered at the 67th BFI London Film Festival on October 14, 2023. It is set to release in theatres on September 13.
The film follows the story of Indian-British detective Jasmeet "Jazz" Bhamra, who is grieving the death of her own child, but is assigned to investigate the case of a 10-year-old boy.
Kareena took to Instagram to post the behind-the-scenes clicks, much to the delight of her fans.
It will be her debut as a producer, and also the first time the 43-year-old will be essaying the role of a detective.
Last year, Netflix India released 'The Film Actors' Roundtable 2023' on YouTube, in which Kareena talked about her character. "I think I loved playing that part because this is the first time I am playing a detective, and I am a huge crime drama fan."
Recently, director Hansal Mehta dismissed rumours that The Buckingham Murders is a rip-off of the 2021 limited series Mare of Easttown, which also follows the story of a depressed female detective investigating the murder of a teenage girl, while grieving the death of her father and son.
"Decide after you watch. Don't jump to conclusions," Mehta said.
Earlier this month, Fortune India released the list of celebrities who paid the highest advance income tax for 2023-24, where Kareena emerged as the highest tax-paying female celebrity, paying a whopping Rs 20 crore.
