Minutes after the US presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump concluded, Taylor Swift took to Instagram to endorse the former. The singer said the US vice president, first woman to serve in the role, is right candidate and "warrior" to fight for the rights and causes in which she believes.

"Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight," Swift wrote, "If you haven't already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most."

She added that as a voter, she makes sure to watch and read everything she can about the policies proposed by Harris and Trump.

Swift's endorsement of Harris comes after she came to know that her AI version falsely endorsing Trump's presidency was posted on his Truth Social app in August. Some images showed "Swifties for Trump" while an AI image depicted Swift as Uncle Sam accompanied with text, "Taylor wants YOU to vote for Donald Trump." Trump even captioned post, saying, "I accept!"

Pointing out that the incident conjured up her fears around AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation, the singer said she realised the need to be transparent about who she is going to vote for. "The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth," she said.

"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election," declared Swift. Explaining her stance, the singer-songwriter said Harris is a steady-handed, gifted leader and can accomplish so much more in the US. Pointing out that the Americans should be led by calm and not chaos, Swift said she was also impressed by Harris's running mate Walz who has stood up for "LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and a woman's right to her own body for decades."

Declaring that she has done her research and made her choice, she told her fans, "Your research is all your to do, and the choice is yours to make."

Addressing first-time voters, she said, "Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it's much easier to vote early. I'll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story." She signed off the post as "Childless Cat Lady".
