Aarti Ravi has slammed ex-husband Jayam Ravi, saying the actor announced their divorce without her knowledge and consent.
Saying she and her children were blindsided, Aarti said, "I am deeply shocked and saddened by the recent public announcement regarding our marriage, which was made without my knowledge or consent."
She said that after being together for 18 years, a significant decision like divorce should have been handled with grace, respect and privacy.
Aarti added that she tried to talk to Jayam in order to resolve marital issues but her efforts were in vain. "For some time, I have sought several opportunities to speak directly... to have an open dialogue," she said, adding that she was denied such an opportunity. She said Jayam's decision to walk of the marriage is one-sided.
She said despite the pain of their split, she has decided to remain "dignified and refrained" from public comment until now. Aarti said she found it had to "endure the false public narrative" that put the blame on her and her character. "As a mother, my first priority is and always will be the well-being of my children. I cannot stand by while this narrative affects them and I will not allow these unfounded allegations to go unaddressed," she wrote.
Earlier, Jayam Ravi had wrote that he took the decision to split with Aarti after much thought and discussions. "This decision was not made out of haste and it stems from personal reasons that I believe are in the best interests of everyone involved," he posted.
The rumours about the rift in the couple's marital life emerged after Aarti deleted photos of Ravi from her Instagram account in June. The couple has two sons, Aarav and Ayaan.
