Grammy-winning band Coldplay has announced that they will hold a third show in Mumbai on January 21 after the tickets for the January 18 and 19 shows were sold out within minutes. The news that Coldplay's 'Music of the Spheres World Tour' was coming to India saw fans rushing to get tickets, causing BookMyShow's website and mobile application to crash on Sunday.

The band took to X to announce the third show. "Due to phenomenal demand, a third Mumbai date has been added at DY Patil Stadium for 21 January 2025."

The tickets were all sold out on Sunday at noon, just after the booking opened. The bookings for the third show began at 2 pm IST, which too saw an unprecedented rush.

"We implemented a queueing system to manage the overwhelming demand and addressed issues caused by suspicious and malicious traffic within minutes, causing a brief delay but ensuring minimal disruption for genuine fans. Due to the unprecedented demand, a third Mumbai show was added shortly thereafter, which also received a fantastic response," the statement said.

However, for those who haven't been able to book tickets, Coldplay offers another chance to book Infinity Tickets for the India tour. The sale of Infinity Tickets will go on sale on November 22, 2024, and must be brought in pairs.

These tickets are priced at an equivalent of Euro 20 (approximately Rs 2000) per ticket. Infinity Tickets are randomly allocated anywhere in the venue - from the back row to the floor to the best seat in the house.

Coldplay's 'Music of the Spheres World Tour' has sold over 10 million tickets worldwide and the last concert was in Crooke Park, Ireland. The January concert in India will also mark the band's return to India after a gap of nine years.

While those who snatched tickets are excited to be part of the show, hardcore fans of the band who missed out on the opportunity took to X to share their disappointment.

One user wrote: "Whats the sad part? been listening to #Coldplay from when i was 15 years old, followed their journey, yet the wannabe & influencers who are hyped up for Insta reels & social media are getting the tickets. @coldplay some other day, some other place, will meet you! Viva La Vida!" (sic)
