A docuseries on the controversial reign of Vince McMahon as CEO of WWE, will be explored in Netflix’s ‘Mr McMahon’

Animated film Inside Out 2, which became the highest grossing animated film of all time, is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated Telugu film Devara: Part 1 is gearing up for its big screen release on Friday.

Kelsey Mann’s Inside Out 2 is set to hit the small screens on Wednesday. The film, which is a sequel to the 2015 movie, Inside Out, became the highest grossing animated film of all time, beating Frozen 2. Grossing over USD 1.6 billion worldwide, the film delves deeper into 13-year-old Riley’s personified emotions - Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust - with the addition of Anxiety, Ennui, Embarrassment and Envy. The cast includes Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Tony Hale, Liza Lapira and Kensington Tallman.

Mr McMahon

A brand-new docuseries, follows the life of Vince McMahon, former CEO of WWE, and his turbulent and controversial career. Directed by Chris Smith, the show will feature interviews of McMahon, his family and will also feature wrestling champions like The Rock, John Cena, Stone Cold, Triple H and Hulk Hogan. The series will delve into the resignation of McMahon, following the scandals and sexual misconduct allegations.

Killer Heat

Release date: September 26

Streaming platform: Amazon Prime Video

Directed by Philippe Lacôte, and based on Jo Nesbø’s short story The Jealousy Man, the film follows the story of the death of an influential member of a Greek shipping family. Private detective Nick Bali is assigned to the case, where he discovers that every situation is much deeper than it seems. The movie stacks up a stellar cast - Shailene Woodley, Richard Madden and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Love, Sitara

Release date: September 27

Streaming platform: Zee5

Set in Kerala, the film follows the story of Sitara, a successful interior designer who is plagued by the societal expectation of marriage. She starts to form a romantic relationship with a chef, which leads to her questioning her own needs and wants, along with being pressured by family. Directed by Vandana Kataria, the film stars Sobhita Dhulipala and Rajeev Siddhartha.

Vaazhai

Release date: September 27

Streaming platform: Disney+ Hotstar

The Tamil film, directed by Mari Selvaraj, delves into the issues faced by a small rural village, whose livelihoods are connected to a banyan tree. The film, which released in theatres on August 23, is inspired by Selvaraj’s own childhood. Nikhila Vimal, Dhivya Dhuraisamy, Priyanka and Kalaiyarasan comprise the cast.

Devara: Part 1

Directed and written by Koratala Siva, Devara: Part 1 is a Telugu action film that follows the life of titular character Devara, who is tasked with a sea journey, to protect the people of his land, but finds himself facing his brother Bhaira, who conspired against him. The film stars N.T. Rama Rao Jr, Jhanvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Chaitra Rai and Shine Tom Chacko. It is the first Telugu film for Kapoor and Khan.

Cup

Release date: September 27

Cup is a sports film that follows the story of a 16-year-old boy, played by Matthew Thomas of Kumbalangi Nights fame, hailing from Idukki, who dreams of becoming a successful badminton player, and making it to the Olympics. Cup, helmed by debutant director Sanju V. Samuel, also stars Riya Shibu, Basil Joseph and Namitha Pramod.
