Amid rumours of a split between Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, an interview clip of Jaya Bachchan and Swetha Bachchan offering advice to the then newlyweds has emerged.
Speculations about the couple's divorce have been rife since the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in July, where Abhishek and Aishwarya arrived separately. The former Miss World and actor did not pose with Abhishek for pictures at the event.
However, last month the rumours were somewhat dispelled when Aishwarya was seen at Paris Fashion Week, flaunting her wedding ring while walking the ramp for L’Oréal.
Now, a video has resurfaced of a 2007 episode of Koffee With Karan, featuring mother-daughter duos, Jaya and Swetha and Hema Malini and Esha Deol.
During the rapid-fire section of the interview, Karan asks the Bachchans for “one piece of marriage advice to give to Abhishek,” to which Jaya replies, “The scales are going to change if he tries to misbehave.”
And when asked the same about Aishwarya, Jaya praised her daughter-in-law and advised her to “continue being as loving and as dignified as she is”.
Swetha says that her sister-in-law is perfect. “I don’t think we need to give her any advice…. She has immense patience, which is going to take her really far,” to which Jaya laughed and added, “Especially with (Abhishek).”
Aishwarya Rai, crowned Miss World in 1994, married Abhishek Bachchan in 2007. Before their marriage, they have acted together in several films such as, Dhoom 2, Kuch Naa Kaho and Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, to name a few. They have a 12-year-old daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan.
