At the pre-release event in Hyderabad for her upcoming film Jigra, Alia Bhatt praised actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, saying that it is "not easy to be a woman in a man’s world".
Samantha was invited for the event, along with director Trivikram and actor Rana Daggubati.
“Sam, my dearest Samantha… Rightfully so, you are a hero, on and off screen. I have so much admiration for your talent, resilience, and strength,” Alia said, as Samantha looked on. “It’s not easy to be a woman in a man’s world. But you have surpassed gender. You stand tall on your two feet, with your talent and strong kicks, to be the example for everyone.”
Alia also dismissed the notion that actresses compete with each other. “There is nothing like that. Today, I am so so grateful to have a pan-India superstar here to support my film and say such kind words about my film.”
Turning to Trivikram, Alia jokingly asked him to write and direct a film, and cast her and Samantha in it.
The Student of the Year actress also thanked the Telugu audience, for the support and love RRR received, which has led to the release of Jigra in Telugu, too.
She said the song, Naatu Naatu... from RRR is played in a loop at her house. “Raha, my daughter, loves Naatu Naatu; we do the steps together.”
Alia also shared her experience of working with Jigra director Vasan Bala. “I have had such a brilliant experience working with you. You’re so pure, you’re so simple, and you’re such a passionate cinema lover. I am so grateful you chose me to be your Satya (Alia's character in the film).”
