Director Christopher Nolan's next movie featuring Matt Damon will be released on July 17, 2026, Hollywood-based media reports claimed. The film's production is beleived to begin in early 2025, reports said, although there was no information on the plot.

Christopher Nolan's latest was the Academy Award winning Oppenheimer, which grossed $328.9 million at the domestic box office and $975.6 million globally. 54-year-old Matt Damon is no stranger to the acclaimed director's projects. In fact, Damon played General Leslie Groves in Oppenheimer -- nine years after getting the minor role of Dr. Mann in his 2014 science-fiction flick Interstellar. However, Damon's performance in the landmark sci-fi movie didn't go unnoticed despite his limited screen time.

Media house Deadline, which broke the news of the Nolan-Damon reunion, claimed that the unnamed pictures will be produced by Universal Pictures. Nolan is planning for yet another IMAX release (and why not!). The project is "now a full go" and is expected to "attract plenty of A-list talent", Deadline claimed.

Critically-acclaimed Oppenheimer won seven Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director in the 96th Academy Awards. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr also won the prestigious prize for their preformance in the period drama following the invention of the atomic bomb by Dr J. Robert Oppenheimer and Co. The first Nolan movie not to be distributed by Warner Bros, it became the movie with the most nominations (13) and most wins.

Matt Damon, meanwhile, was last seen in Doug Liman's The Instigators that he co-produced.
