Popular American YouTuber 'IShowSpeed', famous for his unpredictable streams and devotion to Cristiano Ronaldo, is once again "trending" over his attempt to set the world record for most backflips in a day.
IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr, tried to complete 100 backflips in 30 minutes as part of his attempt on October 8. The 19-year-old targets to complete over a thousand backflips in 24 hours and break the world record.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Austrian athlete Nico Scheicher holds the record for completing the most blackflips in 24 hours. In 2019, Scheicher had done 1,001 backflips in nine hours, reports showed.
The video of the world record attempt is being livestreamed on his YouTube channel which has over 32.4 subscribers. At the time of compiling this report, IShowSpeed claimed to have completed 608 backflips before deciding to catch a few hours' sleep. The channel claims he was not planning to stop at 1,002 but set a new record by completing 1,008 backflips before the clock ran out. Earlier in the day, he had decided to rest after crossing the 400-mark.
Meanwhile, Guinness World Records took note of the YouTuber's effort. "We had no idea this was happening but you do you bro," a tweet from GWR's official X handle said.
