Mumbai police have enhanced security for Bollywood actor Salman Khan amidst reports that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was involved in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. The gang had in the past attempted to kill the Bollywood actor multiple times.
Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar) leader Baba Siddique was shot dead by assailants on Saturday night in Mumbai. Police have arrested two of the accused and are on the lookout for the third person. Reportedly, infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the murder and police are yet to ascertain the motive behind killing the NCP leader and former minister.

Siddique was a close friend of actor Salman Khan, who also faces threat from the same gang. On hearing the news about the attack, Salman Khan rushed to Lilavati Hospital on Saturday night, reportedly suspended shoot of his Big Boss show. Salman Khan was one of the first actors to reach the hospital and he consoled the family.
Attempts were made at least twice by the gang recently to kill the actor. In April, bike-borne assailants shot at Salman Khan’s residence in Galaxy Apartments allegedly to “scare” the actor on the instructions of the Bishnoi brothers – Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi. The brothers took responsibility for the attack in a social media post and Mumbai police arrested six persons in connection with the case; one of the accused killed self in police custody. In his statement to police, Khan had said he and his family had received several other threats in recent years.
Later in June, Navi Mumbai police foiled an attempt to murder the actor following a tip-off that 60-70 men related to the Bishnoi gang were watching the actor’s movements. The gang had reportedly ordered AK-47 guns from Pakistan and had conducted recces to allegedly kill the actor. The Bishnoi gang is targeting the actor for his alleged role in the Blackbuck hunting case.
