Siddique, 66, was shot dead by three attackers on Saturday night outside his son's office in Mumbai. The news has sent shockwaves not only in the political circles but also in Bollywood where Siddique had several friends, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt and used to host them at his annual iftar parties. Baba Siddique was so close to them that he was instrumental in ending a bitter feud between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, whose friendship began in the 1990s, fell apart in 2008 and the feud lasted half a decade. The two superstars got into a heated argument at the birthday bash of Katrina Kaif, who was Salman Khan's girlfriend back then. They almost started getting physical during the argument and SRK's wife Gauri Khan had to step in.

The reason for the argument is still a mystery but the rift divided Bollywood too and producers also got involved in the cold war, knowingly or unknowingly. Bollywood insiders later reportedly approached Siddique to talk to the two superstars and help end the rift.

During his 2013 Iftaar party, Siddique seated Shah rukh next to Salim Khan, Salman's father and screenwriter. The duo talks for a while and later when Salman arrives, the two superstars hug each other. Following this, Siddique posed with Shah Rukh and Salman, ending the biggest cold war in Bollywood.

However, Baba Siddique's mediation ensured that they not only ended their rift but also became close friends.

Reports have suggested that Lawrence Bishnoi gang is behind the death of Baba Siddique. Salman Khan was also earlier threatened by the Bishnoi gang over the 1998 blackbuck case. Salman was accused of hunting and killing two blackbucks. Blackbucks are considered sacred by the Bishnoi community. Police have increased the security outside Salman Khan's residence Galaxy Apartments.
