Bollywood actress Kajol has revealed that her children, Nysa and Yug, avoid watching her films as much as they can.

In an interview with News18, ahead of the release of her new film Do Patti, Kajol said that though there is considerable buzz around the film, it is difficult to convince her kids to watch the entire movie. “They’ve both seen the trailer of Do Patti and told me they really liked it. They thought it was nice, and I’ve told them they have to watch the film now.”

The Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge actress added that they try to come up with excuses to avoid watching her films. “My son just nodded, but Nysa said things like, ‘I’m in Switzerland, I’m at the university, and I have exams coming up,’” to which her co-star Kriti Sanon slyly replied, “You should’ve told her that it’s coming on Netflix, so she can watch it whenever!”

So, why don't Nysa and Yug watch their mother's films? It's because they cannot bear to watch her cry. “Whatever my character does, they think I’m doing it in real life. They can’t separate the two. Watching my performances really affects them.”

Kriti chipped in, telling Kajol to make them aware that she does not cry in this film. “Yes, I’ll tell them I’m not crying this time. In fact, I’m slapping people! I really hope they’ll watch this one.”

Kajol confessed that she has resorted to blackmail to make them watch the film. “My daughter is studying abroad, so I can’t drag her to watch my films. But I can blackmail my son. That’s how I get them to watch! What to do? I try, but they’re clear that they don’t want to,” she said.

Talking about Do Patti, Kajol said that the characters are “twisted” and not “black and white”. “They’re extremely human and imperfect. You’ll uncover bits and pieces of them as the story progresses, and by the climax, you’ll experience a big reveal. Each character struggles with their own issues, baggage, and ideas of what life should be.”

Directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi, Do Patti is a thriller-mystery centering on Vidya Jyothi (Kajol), an ambitious police officer determined to solve a complex case involving estranged twin sisters, Saumya and Shailee (both played by Kriti Sanon).

The film will release on Netflix on October 25.
