Pakistani social media star Minahil Malik, best known for her TikTok content, moved legally against circulating a "morphed" obscene video on the internet.
According to reports, the obscene videos surfaced online earlier this week, claiming to be Minahil Malik's "leaked private moments" with a male friend. The Pakistani social media influencer later made a statement confirming that she had filed an official complaint against the circulation of the video which she said was digitally altered.
In her video statement on TikTok, the 30-year-old Malik confirmed that she had filed a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against the fake video.
"These videos are completely fake. I have already filed a complaint with the FIA against the person responsible, and they will be arrested soon... Only someone who has no respect for women or doesn’t have a mother or sister at home can do this. I am a witness, and so is my God. I only need your support," Minahil Malik said.
FIA is a criminal investigation and security agency under the control of the Interior Secretary of Pakistan.
Malik added that her family was in a depressed state as a consequence of the malicious act. She requested her fans and supporters to report any user spotted sharing the said clip. Karachi native Minahil Malik reportedly has over 18 lakh followers on TikTok.
Earlier this month, internet was divided after a similar video of actor Oviya Helen emerged online. Oviya, also known as Helen Nelson, filed a complaint against the online circulation of the video. Many of her fans believe that it is a manipulated video aimed at tarnishing the actor's image. They also cite the recent controversies wherein deepfakes of several celebrities were created and shared through social platforms.
