'No proof, no confirmation': Alia Bhatt slams trolls on 'botched botox' claims

Alia Bhatt, who was last seen in 'Jigra', added that the criticism directed at women leads to unrealistic beauty standards

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, in an Instagram story, criticised a video that claimed her “botox went wrong” due to which she had a “crooked smile” and a “weird way of talking”.

She clarified that while she doesn't judge a person who chooses to undergo cosmetic procedures, whatever speculation had been going on regarding her appearance is "beyond ridiculous”.

"To the random video floating around literally claiming I've had Botox gone wrong (and to the numerous clickbait articles) - I have a "crooked smile" and a "weird way of speaking," according to YOU. This is your hypercritical, microscopic judgment of a human face. And now you're confidently tossing around "scientific explanations, claiming I'm paralysed on one side? Are you kidding me?"

She added that these claims are being casually thrown around with “no proof, no confirmation and nothing to back it up”.

Alia added that these baseless charges could be harming to the "young, impressionable minds".

She said that every move and every feature of a woman is scrutinised, which leads to unrealistic beauty standards in the society. It gives rise to a culture of women feeling they are "never enough".

“We should be celebrating individuality, not tearing it apart,” she wrote.

She said that often the harshest judgements come from women themselves, who have developed a tendency to "pick each other apart" to a point where it has been normalised.
