Famous Bihari folk singer Padma Vibhushan Sharda Sinha has been admitted to AIIMS-Delhi after her health deteriorated. According to local media reports, the 72-year-old singer, known as 'Bihar Kokila' remains admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the AIIMS.
Sharda Sinha, who has voiced over 62 Chhath songs (devotional songs that are sung during Chhath Puja), was not keeping well for the past few days and her condition deteriorated further on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, Sharda Sinha's fans and well-wishers started praying and offering pujas for her speedy recovery, Amar Ujala said. In Bihar's Gopalganj, which hosted the 'Lok Gaayika's' several concerts, people arranged for a special puja at a temple for her well-being.
Sharda Sinha, an iconic Maithili and Bhojpuri singer, has been active since 1980, Jagran said in a report. She had recently lost her husband Braj Kishore to a brain haemorrhage after 54 years of marriage, the report added.
Nine of her albums have been released by music majors like HMV, Tips and T-Series. 'Kahe Toh Se Sajna' from Maine Pyar Kiya, 'Taar Bijli' from Gangs Of Wasseypur and 'Babul' from Hum Aapke Hain Koun.
Ahead of winning Padma Vibhushan in 2018, the country had honoured her with the Padma Shir in 1991.
