Kapoor told News18 that a mistake from the producers' side destroyed the movie. He said the censor board could not do anything since judiciary and other entities were involved.

Alleging that the producers went overboard, he said, "We expected the film to do Rs 75-100 crore in business, but unfortunately, it couldn't even cover its budget in lakhs."

He said the producers' "over-enthusiasm, breaking of law ad jugaadu behaviour" led to the failure in box office. "A project with the potential to make it big ended up in ditch. The producers disappeared," Kapoor said, adding that he has not spoken to them since then. "They went their way, and I went mine."

Talking about protests by the Muslim community, he said the producers were blamed for releasing the teaser and trailer without censor board approval.
