In an Instagram video Rajpal had advised everyone to avoid bursting crackers during Diwali in order to protect animals. However, an earlier ad that showed him promoting chicken and other meat biriyanis resurfaced on social media and netizens began slamming the actor for his hypocrisy.
Following this, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actor pulled down the older video and issued an apology. He said he did not intend to diminish the joy of Diwali.
In the latest viral video shot at Palia in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district, a journalist asks Rajpal about his upcoming film to which he replies, saying, "A movie will release in one-and-a-half months."
The journalist then asked him about his no-firecracker remark. This annoys Rajpal and towards the end of the video, he is seen trying to snatch the journalist's phone in a fit of anger.
The third instalment of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise stars Kartik Aryan, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan and Triptii Dimri in lead roles.
The first instalment, which was a remake of the critically acclaimed 1993 Malayalam film Manichithrathazhu, was released in 2007. It starred Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja and Ameesha Patel.
The second instalment released in 2022 starred Tabu, Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani. Rajpal was also part of the cast in all three films, reprising his role as Chhote Pandit.
