Arjun Kapoor has revealed that he is suffering from Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, an autoimmune disorder, since 30 and explained that it is an extension of having a thyroid issue.
Saying his health has always been something he never openly spoken about, the actor told Hollywood Reporter India, "I went through my own physical issues - I am a fat kid at heart, right? It creates a lot of mental trauma for years which you don't realise - your equation with food, your equation with taking care of yourself."
Explaining the Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, he said it is almost like taking a flight can cause weight gain as the body goes into stress. The genetic condition, which he shared with his late mother and sister, apparently took a toll on his body and self-image.
Recallings moment of self-doubt, Kapoor said, "You fight against it, you look for validation. I was diagnosed with mild depression."
