On Tuesday, iconic British band Coldplay announced they would be performing a fourth show in India.
The concert, which is to be held in Ahmedabad on January 25, follows the earlier announced shows scheduled for January 18, 19 and 21, 2025, in Mumbai. The tickets for the fourth show will be available on BookMyShow on November 16, 2024 at 12pm IST.
Although fans were excited about the announcement, many are not looking forward to ticketing experience. In September, when the tickets for the first three shows went live on BookMyShow, fans were made to wait in extremely long queues, only to end up with no tickets.
Many then started noticing that tickets were being re-sold on third-party sites, like Viagogo, at unreasonable rates. Tickets that were originally priced between Rs 2,000 and Rs 35,000 were being listed for Rs 30,000 to over Rs 7 lakh.
Fans were angered and took to social media to complain about the same, where one user wrote, “how is it possible that i was waiting in line and didnt score tickets but platforms like Viagogo have a whole chunk of em”.

So, how did fans react to the fourth show? Not hopefully.
While some fans were ecstatic, many are expecting a repeat of what happened in September. One user wrote, “Coldplay added a fourth show in Ahmedabad? Here we go again! Wapas se wahi intezaar (same wait again) on BookMyShow. The only unsettling thing is their ticket waiting list. Scammy!”
Another took to X (formerly Twitter), and said, “If @bookmyshow doesn't bless me with @coldplay Ahmedabad tickets, deleting this app faster than the speed of light. Who's with me?”, while another wrote, “The relationship between Coldplay and BookMyShow is toxic”.
Some are hoping that the ticketing platform learnt from their mistake and make the selling process smoother. “@bookmyshow we trust you guys. Let's do this. Please do not make the tickets re-saleable.”
Coldplay will come to India next year as part of the Asian leg of their Music of the Spheres tour. The band last performed in the country in 2016.
