Tamil director Suresh Sangaiah died at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Chennai, at 11 pm on Friday. The filmmaker was known for his critically acclaimed directorial, Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu.

How did Suresh Sangaiah die?

Suresh Sangaiah was battling jaundice and died of liver failure, according to local reports.

His death was confirmed by cinematographer Saran, who also worked in the 2017 comedy drama, Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu. The filmmaker is survived by his wife and two children.

His second directorial was Sathiya Sothanai, which was completed before the pandemic. But the makers had to wait for four years to releae the movie due to Covid-19 lockdown.

Suresh's entry into Kollywood was through Kaaka Muttai, in which he was an assistant director. 

The deceased director was in the pre-production stage of his third film. The movie was planned as a Yogi Babu-starrer to be released on Disney+ Hotstar.

Following his death, director Halitha Shameem expressed her disbelief, saying she was shocked and saddened after learning about the tragic news.

"I've always held #OruKidayinKarunaiManu as a precious film and now with a deeper significance," she posted on X.

Director ARK Saravan posted, "Shocked by the news of the demise of my friend-director Suresh Sangaiah. The Tamil film industry has lost a good and honest director Deepest condolences my friend".
