Suriya-starrer Kanguva, which released on November 14 wordlwide, has been drawing flak over excessive noise, 3D scenes and comedy segments. Now Jyothika has responded to the trolls, saying its a planned defamation.
The movie, which grossed Rs 10.5 crore on Saturday, raked in just Rs 46.75 crore after three days in the domestic box office.
She began her post, saying she is writing as not as actor Suriya's wife, but as Jyotika and a movie lover. Calling Kanguva a spectacle of cinema, the actress said, "So proud of you Suriya, for the actor you are and how you dare to dream to take cinema forward."
Jyotika admitted that the first half-an-hour of Kanguva is noisy but pointed out that flaws are a part of most films in India. "So that's only fair, especially in this kind of a film wherein one experiments largely!" she added.
She said it is not right to blame the three-hour Suriya starrer for the first 30 minutes, adding that the camera work by Vetripalanisamy is a never-before-seen in Tamil cinema.
"I'm surprised with the negative reviews from media and certain fraternities, as it's not done by them to this high level for the most unintellectual big budget films I have seen earlier with age-old stories, where women are stalked, double meaning dialogues are spoken and have the most over-the-top action sequences," she posted.
Jyothika said the critics appear to have forgotten about the good parts of the movie while reviewing and that it is sad that they chose this much negativity on Day 1 of the Suriya-starrer's release, even before the first show was over.
She ended her post, saying, "Be proud Team Kanguva, as the ones commenting negative are doing just that and nothing else to their credit to uplift cinema!"
