Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has yet again slammed the Telangana government over its notice to him. The singer posted a long video on Instagram in which he talked about how it was easy for him to tweak the lyrics of his songs.
Dosanjh modified the lyrics of his songs 'Lemonade' and '5 Taara' at the Hyderabad show of his Dil-Luminati India tour on Saturday after the Telangana government sent a notice directing him not to promote songs about alcohol, drugs or violence at the concert.
The notice was issued hours before his performance on Friday. His songs, including 'Patiala Pegg' and 'Panchatara' were mentioned in the complaint.
Dosanjh performed the tweaked songs during the gig, which were widely circulated online, "Tainu teri coke ch pasand aa Lemonade" instead of "Tainu teri daaru ch pasand aa Lemonade" from the song "Lemonade".
Speaking during his Ahmedabad concert, he revealed that he doesn't consume alcohol and neither does he promote it.
He also called for a pan-India movement to ban alcohol, which he pointed out generates huge revenue. He promised that he would stop singing songs about alcohol.
Dosanjh also added that there are many songs in Bollywood about alcohol, but he only sang three to four songs. "It's easy for me to tweak the songs. I don't drink alcohol and it's very easy for me."
But artists in Bollywood advertise about alcohol, he noted. He also added, 'Why are you messing with me?... Wherever I go, I do my performance and leave."
Dosanjh talked about starting a movement. "If all of India's states declare themselves as dry states, then Diljit won't ever sing songs on alcohol. I promise. Can that happen?... Everything closed down during COVID-19 except alcohol shops...You can't fool the youth," he said.
He also spoke about how he wants Amritsar to be a dry city too.
