Rapper Hanumankind, who shot to fame this year with his song Big Dawgs, is set to perform at the popular music festival Coachella in 2025. The singer will only be the second Indian to perform at the annual festival after Diljit Dosanjh, who performed in 2023.

The line-up for the event was confirmed on Thursday on the official Coachella website. The festival will be headlined by singer-songwriter Lady Gaga, American rock band Green Day, and rapper Post Malone. American rapper Travis Scott will also perform as a special guest. Other notable performers include Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, and Megan Thee Stallion.

The festival is scheduled to be held in April on two consecutive three-day weekends -- 11-13 and 18-20. Hanumankind is likely to perform either on April 12 or April 19.

Hanumankind's rise to fame

Sooraj Cherukat, known professionally as Hanumankind, is a singer-songwriter from Kerala, India raised in Texas, US. He first stepped into the music world in 2019 with his song Daily Dose from his debut EP Kalari, but the 32-year-old only gained recognition five years later, in 2024, with Big Dawgs.

The song spread like wildfire on social media and the rising popularity gained it a spot on the Billboard Top 200 list at No 9, and No 8 on the US Excl. Charts. Big Dawgs even surpassed Kendrick Lamar's diss track Not Like Us in the charts.

Hanumankind has also dabbled in the Mollywood film industry. His song The Last Dance, for which he collaborated with Sushin Shyam, was featured on the official soundtrack of the 2024 Malayalam hit film Aavesham. The rapper is set to make his acting debut in Aashiq Abu's upcoming film Rifle Club.
