Anurag Kashyap's debut film was shot 22 years ago but it never hit the screens. However, the film, Paanch, will come out next year.

Producer of Paanch, Tutu Sharma, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, confirmed that Paanch would release in six months. "Paanch is definitely coming next year," he told the outlet.

Why was Paanch delayed by 22 years?

Paanch producer Sharma said the movie was banned by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to portrayal of violence, drug abuse and foul language.

He said the conflicts with the censor board was resolved but the film could not be released due to other hurdles including production issues.

Sharma said the negatives have slightly deteriorated and makers have already begun restoring them. He said he is hopeful of audience reception as several old movies are getting re-releases.

The producer even goes on to say that Paanch is Kashyap's best film to date. "Many people believe that. You will agree with me once you see it," he added.

He said Kay Kay Menon and Tejaswini Kolhapure are brilliant in Paanch. Besides them, the movie also stars Aditya Srivastava, Vijay Maurya and Joy Fernandes.
