The Chennai Family Welfare Court on Wednesday granted divorce to actor Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth, ending their 18-year married life.
This comes after Dhanush and Aishwarya were seen at the Chennai court for the hearing on November 21. The couple cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for divorce.

While announcing their separation in January 17, 2022, Dhanush posted on social media that they have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand themselves as individuals for the better.
"18 years of togetherness as friends, couple as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate," he wrote, requesting everyone to respect their decision and privacy.
Who are Dhanush and Aishwarya's children?
Dhanush and Aishwarya tied the knot in 2004. They have two children, Yatra and Linga and have been co-parenting them since the announcement of their separation.
They took turns in attending the children's school functions. According to local media, it is said that Dhanush and Aishwarya will continue co-parenting the children like they have been doing till now.
The news of divorce comes amid Dhanush moving the Madras High Court to file a lawsuit against Nayanthara, Vignesh Sivan and Rowdy Pictures Pvt Ltd over copyright infringement. The case comes after the visuals from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films in Nayanthara's Netflix documentary.
The docu-drama, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale, was released on November 18.
