Jason Sanjay, who is the son of Tamil superstar and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam supremo 'Thalapathy Vijay', is donning the cap of a director! The first project directed by the youngster was announced by Lyca Productions on Friday, who released a motion poster on YouTube.
According to Tamil media reports, Jason Sanjay, who had earlier helmed a short film, was studying filmmaking at a Canadian university. It was announced in August last year that he would be making his directorial debut. Chennai-born Sundeep Kishan, who is a noted actor-director in Tamil and Telugu movie industries, was confirmed to play the lead role in the movie.
A Subaskaran of Lyca Productions had said on Thursday that his house decided to shake hands with Sanjay after they were convinced by the unique story premise that he pitched. Sanjay's script had a cinematic feel and the youngster also understood the complexities attached to film production, A Subaskaran had said. As things stand, here is what we know so far about the directorial debut of Vijay's son Jason Sanjay:
- The 1 minute-5 second long motion poster captioned 'Jason Sanjay 01' gave away very little if not nothing about the plot of the movie.
- The poster opens up showing a car blinking its headlight amidst a riot and currency notes flying all around outside the INDIRA LIBRARY.
- The motion poster takes us to the inside of the library where we see a Roman bust and piles of American dollars.
- The actor and director's chairs are shown facing each other inside the heart of the empty library. Towards the end of the poster, we see Jason Sanjay and Sundeep Kishan occupying their respective seats and conversing jovially.
- We are also told 'Jason Sanjay 01' is a Tapan musical and Praveen KL helming the edit room. KL won the National Film Award for Best Editing for the Tamil film 'Aaranya Kaandam' in 2011 and has worked with noted projects like 'Mankatha', 'Second Show', 'Madras' and 'Kadaram Kondan' among others.
- The motion poster states that the film will be made in Tamil and Telugu and will go on floors soon. Meanwhile, a media report claimed the production company as saying that the shooting will commence in January 2025.
- Kollywood's noted PRO Suresh Chandra, best know for his association with projects of 'Thala' Ajith Kumar, was roped in to assist in Sanjay's debut, The Hindu said in a report.
